Hi and welcome to my blog. My name is Andy, and I'm a faux-die.
faux' die — n. 1. Someone who would like to be a foodie but lacks the requisite monetary means that goes along with the hobby.
2. A person having great interest in the preparation and consumption of good food and possesses a certain enthusiasm for finding short cuts making both endeavors more accessible to the common man.
Dining in top-of-the-line restaurants and cooking with the best ingredients and equipment costs hundreds of dollars. Hundreds of dollars that I don't have.
In my 5 years in Chicago I have come to find what I like and don't like in restaurants and recipes and ways to make them work for me. In this blog, I hope to pass on some of what I have learned with others who share my interest in being a faux-die.
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them. Thanks for reading!
